2006.

In the Second China Cross Country Championship, which had just ended on December 15th, the Landwind team presented a good performance again. Held by the Federation of Automobile Sports of China (FASC), the China Cross Country Championship has long had the fame of “Chinese Dakar”. It is a long-distance automobile off-road rally with the longest distance and highest standard in China. The race takes four days with a distance of 1,700km. Participating vehicles are required to get across Gobi and the desert, challenging a variety of complex terrains. Compared with the First China Cross Country Championship, a 200km special section has been added to this one. Therefore, it would be a severe trial for the vehicles as well as the drivers because the difficulty and intensity of the race has been raised by a certain extent.

In the First China Cross Country Championship last year, there were 9 participating diesel vehicles. As the number increased to 25 this year, the competition got severer. In the end, by good comprehension of his weapon, Landwind’s driver Zhang Luowei caught up from behind and successfully defended the title of individual championship of the Diesel Group for Landwind. In the five-day race, the drivers and vehicles both had fully experienced bunkers, dunes and Gobi. Many hand-masters lost qualification in the sand for their operation errors or mechanical failures. The Landwind team was not an exception when facing all these difficulties. Li Jicheng, the champion of last year’s Diesel Group, previously led in the individual score ranking but his total score was affected because of the mechanical failure in the last section. But what’s commendable is that the whole Landwind team was not affected by it. The team leader Zhang Luowei remained calm and kept his stable performance in every section, catching up from behind and winning the title for Landwind. Every possibility as well as danger exist in the race, but perhaps that’s just what makes long-distance automobile off-road rally so fascinating!

As the forerunner of Chinese off-road culture, Landwind has obtained more than 40 national cross country race championships since 2002, becoming a general winner in venues cross country race and long-distance cross country race.
