On August 28th, 2005, the “Landwind national fuel-saving challenge finals”, which was held by Landwind, was on it’s run in Xiangshan forest holiday village, a famous tourist interests in Nanchang City of Jiangxi Province. At 9:30 a.m., the total 16 Landwind racers for the national finals were divided into four groups to start the fuel-saving race on the first grade highway from Xinqizhou to Anyi in Nanchang. The top three came out after intense competition. They obtained their tittles by 4.41L/100km, 4.58L/100km and 4.59L/100km, and at the same time, made a record for the least fuel consumption of domestic SUV. The achievement was almost as significant as that of most normal 1.6L cars, which fully reflected fuel-saving excellence of Landwind SUV.

It is reported that this challenge has gone through a month, attracting thousands of Landwind owners within the country to participate under the theme “the pioneer of fuel-saving, enjoying saving fuel”. 16 master-hands of fuel-saving earned their places for the finals through intense competitions in different game zones. In the finals, the game employed the masterpiece of Landwind as the standard weapon, which was a four-door and two-wheel-drive, 2.8L Non-Turbocharged Diesel engine model, whose nominal average fuel consumption was 7L/100km. Rules of the game were made by Institute of Automobile of Qinghua University and the precise effect in science would be guaranteed under the supervise of following judges along with the competitors. Thus the result of fuel consumption would have a high value in reference for the standard of fuel consumption of current SUV.

The whole activity was live observed by professors from the Power Research Institute of Qinghua University, which is a domestic authority, and covered by nearly 20 famous medias including CCTV2.
